A Definate No

Well, I finally talked with the director of the organization I was planning on working with toward an adoption.  She stated that the lawyer they work with basically doesn't think he can process single parent adoptions any longer.  She said that if he is at all unsure, then she thinks I should not go ahead and that she would be ripping up my check since she never cashed it.

I'm very sad, I've heard such good and wonderful things about this organization, but this is exactly why, because she was very up front with me about things that could potentially go wrong and doesn't want to jeopardize my time, money, etc on something that probably won't happen.

BUT, now I AM back at square one! :(  I am contacting another agency I've heard good things about that work in this same area.  Their site states they will work with singles, so I'm waiting to hear back from them to solidify this.  I have also emailed two other places in Africa I've heard have had adoptions, but have not seen any agencies that work there, so am asking if someone from the US can adopt there or not.  I also found out that SOME Ghana adoptions can be done by singles for Special Needs adoptions, but the travel there looks to be a little long so not sure.  In addition, I contacted someone who at times has domestic Downs Syndrome situations needing placements and am filling out forms with them.  We'll see where God chooses to work in this, which doors He opens and closes.  Excited for the end result, but hoping the process gets back on track and that money just starts sailing in! :)

It's exciting (and frustrating), a big mystery of who your child is and where they are.

Praying that God would open up doors for you. And, in the mean time, gives you assurance that He is in control!

That was very nice of that person to advise you and help in the way she deemed best. I'm sure God will point you in the right direction. He's good that way.

Sorry your plans were frustrated. What about the children on Reese's Rainbow? Carolyn

I am so sorry Lisa, I hope you find the right agency for your family

Carolyn, Yes, I look at Reeces all the time! :) Unfortunately most of the kiddos have to have married couples, and the rest are primarily Russia which has a lengthy travel which doesn't really work for a single full time working mom. :( I LOVE Ian on their from Russia and Tyler from Taiwan!!! :(

What you should know about HIV

-HIV can NOT be spread through casual/household contact. HIV is not spread through hugging, kissing, shaking hands, sharing toys, sneezing, coughing, sharing food, sharing drinks, bathing, swimming or any other casual way. It has been proven that HIV and AIDS can only be spread through sexual contact, birth, breastfeeding and blood to blood contact (such as sharing needles). - HIV is now considered a chronic but manageable disease. With treatment, people who are HIV+ can live indefinitely without developing AIDS and can live long and full lives. - People who are HIV+ deserve to be treated with love, respect, support and acceptance as all people do. Additional information on transmission of HIV can be found on the Center for Disease Control website: http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/resources

Little Did I Know

Little did I know that the road would be so rocky
Little did I know that the trip would take so long
Little did I know that my heart could hurt so much
Little did I know that God is never wrong

Little did I know that love could be so powerful
Little did I know that a dream so far could go
Little did I know that God would place the right ones
Little did I know that my heart, so large, could grow

Little did I know that a dream has it’s own timing
Little did I know that this day would finally come
Little did I know that four souls would be sent to guide me
Little did I know that they would choose to call me mom

But God knew all along and He had a plan to follow
God knew all along that my dream would soon come true
God knew all along that we five should be together
God knew all along that I’d share it all with you
