Travel Time!

We have TRAVEL DATES for our first trip to Haiti to meet Macy!

Olivia and I will be traveling March 7-22 for what's known as our two week socialization trip.  During this time we will spend time with Macy, get to know her, let her know us, and then have two government social worker visits.  That worker will essentially decide whether or not our adoption should continue as planned... no pressure! :)

I can't believe that in THREE WEEKS we will be seeing this face in person for the first time!

And then just two weeks after we'll have to leave her behind as we wait out the rest of the process! :(

But we look forward to the time we will have and are eagerly awaiting our trip!!!

Bad Weather, We've Had Enough

Yes, if you aren't from the area that's had lots of bad weather lately I'm sure you've at least seen it or heard about it.  We were out of school the first two days back after Christmas break due to weather, and then out two days last week due to weather (extreme cold).  And now another big storm hit Friday night and Saturday.  We had plans with good friends and their two kids to come in town Saturday to "do cake" for the boys' birthdays, but looking at the weather forecasts it was too risky.  Then two friends who live only a couple blocks away were going to come, but it was even too rotten out for them.  So, I BARELY made it to the store and back safely to get the cake itself, but we did and celebrated anyway!

We Have MOVEMENT!

I have HUGE adoption news!  I have been on cloud nine for the past 24 hours!

I've been basically waiting day by day, checking my email constantly, holding my breath, just to hear that we have been "officially" given the referral of Macy from the Haitian government.

Due to adoption processes and laws in upheaval and change right now, the process for handing out referrals changed just as I had gotten mine.  Instead of the agencies/orphanages handing out referrals themselves any longer, the Haitian government (through what's called IBESR), wants to do the matching and giving out of referrals themselves.  All of the changes Haiti is implementing, though hard in the midst, are all going to be for the good in the long run and move them toward being Hague compliant.

Anyway, I knew that my dossier/paperwork was through and that our Macy's papers were signed and ready, and that we were literally just waiting for the word.

And last night I received the news that we HAVE BEEN OFFICIALLY MATCHED!

What's next?

The referral has to be translated from Creole, passed on to me, and then I have some paperwork to complete to officially accept the referral.  Once all of that is translated back to Creole and sent to Haiti (within 15 days of yesterday), then we will look at planning for our first, two week, trip to Haiti to have supervised visits.  I am just in amazement that we are so close to meeting her!

Please continue to pray!  And if you feel so led to share our story we could still use lots of prayer and some financial help as well as we prepare for this trip!

Birthday Time

That time just after Christmas should be a winding down from holidays, packages, festivities, but for us it's the start of two very important birthdays round these parts!

Liam's birthday was Thursday, January 31 and he turned EIGHT!

The kids get to choose whatever they would like for their special birthday dinner.  Liam played that to the hilt in choosing summer sausage, cheese, crackers, butterbeer, and "Loft*house" cookies!

I must say the butterbeer was DELICIOUS!  I've tried a few recipes, but THIS ONE seems to me to be the easiest and tastiest!

Liam was given a few gifts and was so happy for them!  This one was sent from Grandma... can you tell she hit the nail on the head? :)

We had a wonderful time celebrating!  Today we are having a small cake and ice cream get together with two friends for both boys and then next Friday is Braeden's turn!

What you should know about HIV

-HIV can NOT be spread through casual/household contact. HIV is not spread through hugging, kissing, shaking hands, sharing toys, sneezing, coughing, sharing food, sharing drinks, bathing, swimming or any other casual way. It has been proven that HIV and AIDS can only be spread through sexual contact, birth, breastfeeding and blood to blood contact (such as sharing needles). - HIV is now considered a chronic but manageable disease. With treatment, people who are HIV+ can live indefinitely without developing AIDS and can live long and full lives. - People who are HIV+ deserve to be treated with love, respect, support and acceptance as all people do. Additional information on transmission of HIV can be found on the Center for Disease Control website: http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/resources

Little Did I Know

Little did I know that the road would be so rocky
Little did I know that the trip would take so long
Little did I know that my heart could hurt so much
Little did I know that God is never wrong

Little did I know that love could be so powerful
Little did I know that a dream so far could go
Little did I know that God would place the right ones
Little did I know that my heart, so large, could grow

Little did I know that a dream has it’s own timing
Little did I know that this day would finally come
Little did I know that four souls would be sent to guide me
Little did I know that they would choose to call me mom

But God knew all along and He had a plan to follow
God knew all along that my dream would soon come true
God knew all along that we five should be together
God knew all along that I’d share it all with you
