Our Busy Weekend

Thursday grandma and grandpa flew in to stay the weekend and attend my cousin's wedding with us. What a small world that my dad's side of the family live 2 1/2 hours away, my cousin lives in another town and met a girl there who is originally from here, where I live. So they married here which was perfect for us! :)

We spent Thursday night together at our house, my parents stayed with the kids at home on Friday while I had teacher institute day. We then got my parents checked into their hotel (they wanted a place where the kids could swim!) and grandpa and the kids swam some (it was way too cold for grandma and I!) Olivia and I attended the wedding rehearsal that night as I was asked to be a reader in the wedding - such an honor! We then picked up the crew and went to the rehearsal dinner together. The dinner was wonderful and it was a special time to spend with family.

Saturday I dropped the boys off at the hotel and Olivia came with me while I got my hair done. We then went to lunch together and got ready for the wedding. The boys stayed home with a babysitter and Olivia (my date!) and I went with grandma and grandpa.

The wedding was gorgeous, and my heart actually tried pounding out of my chest but didn't quite make it! Whew! :) The reception was beautiful as well and I loved some of their touches! They passed out bookmarks and had a photobooth set up to take old time photos. You received a double set and snipped them in half to leave one set in a scrapbook with metallic paint pens as your signature/greeting and one set could be slipped inside the bookmark.

Instead of a "traditional" cake, they had a small cake to cut and the rest of the table was a cupcake station. LOVED IT! They had white, red velvet, butterfinger, lemon raspberry (my favorite!!!), and chocolate devil dog (which grandpa brought home for the boys)...

I finally convinced Olivia to dance for about two seconds with the bride and my cousin's little one...

but she quickly sat back down. Cracked me up because usually she loves dancing! I am so NOT a dancer! :) I did finally get her out for a song she knew...

All in all we had a great time!

Sunday we met up with more family for brunch at I*HOP, home for a short nap, followed by some more family stopping over to see our house and new pup, then some swimming again at the hotel...

We topped off the night taking the grandparents to see Legends of the Guardians which the kids loved! Today we swam some more, went to lunch, took Braeden for his eye exam (SO glad that's only once a year that I have to fight with him over dilating!!!!!), then drove my parents back to the airport. On our way back home we stopped at Toys R Us to get a gift for a bday party Olivia will be going to soon. I happened to snag a couple GREAT stocking stuffers on the way out without the kids seeing!!! Small three packs of Moonsand for $.73 each!!!! And two packs of Jonas Brothers socks for Olivia for $.73 as well! (Cool that they had three different sets!) We then went to Old Navy, where they had their clearance an additional 50% off! Didn't look at my sizes, but did get Braeden some basketball pants for about $4 (he wears through knees like nobody's business and is in desperate need of size 6-7 pants!!!) and a great fall dress for Olivia for the same. We decided to splurge on dinner at Panera and had a great time! Not sure I'm ready to get back to our routine tomorrow and return to school, but I guess all good things come to an end sometime! :)

What a fun weekend! I love Olivia's dress! So cute and fun! And the idea for the photo booth and bookmarks, that is a keeper!

Sorry you have to go back to "the real world". I keep hoping I will win the lottery so I can live in weekend mode forever! But I never remember to buy a ticket, oh well!

Little Did I Know

Little did I know that the road would be so rocky
Little did I know that the trip would take so long
Little did I know that my heart could hurt so much
Little did I know that God is never wrong

Little did I know that love could be so powerful
Little did I know that a dream so far could go
Little did I know that God would place the right ones
Little did I know that my heart, so large, could grow

Little did I know that a dream has it’s own timing
Little did I know that this day would finally come
Little did I know that four souls would be sent to guide me
Little did I know that they would choose to call me mom

But God knew all along and He had a plan to follow
God knew all along that my dream would soon come true
God knew all along that we five should be together
God knew all along that I’d share it all with you
