I must admit I've been procrastinating somewhat on this one.  I was very excited for the end product, but not at all looking forward to the execution, as I wasn't sure how it would be.  I'm here to tell you this was CHEAP and EASY!!!

Marshmallow Shooters

Needed:
1 10 foot section of 1/2 inch PVC pipe (will make up to 5 shooters)
2 elbow PVC connectors, 1 "T" connector, and 1 end cap for each shooter you want to make
small saw
ruler/measuring tape
pencil
(I did NOT use the Tacky Glue, but you COULD)


The original blog that posted making these did not give out measurements/directions which is why I think I was nervous about it.  But I eyeballed their photos and came up with my own measurements and they worked out GREAT!!

You'll need:
1 - 3inch cut (the up / down piece that is NOT the handle)
1 - 8inch cut
3 - 4inch cuts

They cut SUPER easily!  There is some mess, so be careful where you cut.  The ends will be somewhat jagged which doesn't matter except for the two exposed ends.  I'm going to sand these when we get back home, as well as spray paint them.


Then it was time for the testors!  And did they ever have a ball!  Liam was napping, but Braeden and Olivia LOVED it!





I tried and tried to get a picture of one shooting out... to no avail!  Better luck next time!  This was a GREAT pin!

This is another early pin I pinned when I began using Pinterest and was so excited to try out!  Tonight the kids and I went to the Drive-in to see Brave and brought this along... what a perfect setting to have some glowing bubbles!

Glowing Bubbles

All you need are bubbles, glow sticks (I used four for each jar of bubbles), and a pair of scissors to cut the sticks open.  


Cut open the glow sticks and dump in the contents.  I found you need to cut one end, then hold that end over the bubbles while cutting the opposite end to make a straw so the liquid flows right out.  


I did the first two containers, but when I tried to blow a bubble, even though it was still pretty light, it just didn't look like they were glowing AT ALL.  So with the last container I dumped out half the bubbles before adding the liquid (above).  You can see that the liquid glows bright in the bubbles, but when mixed and blown, the bubbles DO NOT GLOW.


We even waited until it got quite dark and then tried once more when it was pitch black, but NO GLOW.


FAILED to be a pin that works! :(

An overcast kind of day today... but somehow fitting for our plans.

Today we headed out to a nearby orchard.  I know, an orchard may not be THAT big of a deal... but we've been looking forward to going to THIS orchard since we began researching places to go on our trip months ago.

Why?  Well, because this orchard just happens to have played a part in the Underground Railroad.


We went to view the orchard and grounds. 


We had hoped to do some picking, but with lack of rain this year there wasn't much ready to be picked.


But that was ok with us, we still had lots of fun!


There were a few different animals there to entertain.  The rooster crowed a few times and the kids were tickled.  Braeden cupped his hands over this mouth and squealed, "I've never seen that in person, only on tv!"  So cute!


Then we headed inside to learn about the Underground Railroad and the part that this farm played in the transportation of slaves to freedom.


We saw an underground room that, while not necessarily built for the railroad, was most likely used to help hide slaves if anyone came nearby.


The barn had the original cobblestone floor from 1850 and Olivia and Braeden thought it was so special that Harriet Tubman could've walked these same paths.


The room itself is blocked off, but we looked down into it and imagined what it would have been like to have had to hide away in there for a while.


The Underground Railroad... ordinary people doing extraordinary things.  I can only hope that if I had been around then, that I would have made those same choices.
